League
• MYFA is a not for profit organization, 501c3
• MYFA does not receive outside funding from any state or local governments
• MYFA Board Members and Coaches are not compensated
• MYFA has been providing youth football in the Metro area since 1971
• MYFA provides flag leagues for 1st-4th grade, passing leagues for 4th-7th, modified tackle for 3rd grade and tackle for 4th-8th grade
• MYFA has strict policies for required playing time
• In partnership with Dr. Fitzgerald & Associates MYFA offers free ImPact Testing to all Tackle/Modified Players
Coaches & Volunteers
• All Tackle Coaches are required to complete USA Football Level I Certification-Yearly while other leagues have just certified head coaches
• All Flag & Tackle Coaches are required to pass a Bi-Annual Nationwide Background check
• Head Coaches are required to attend a mandatory Coaching Clinic held by MYFA prior to the season
• Games are played on Full sized Football fields (Flag and Modified are played on age specific fields)
• Permanent Goal Posts and Scoreboard are installed on all fields (used only in 4th Grade to 8th Grade Games)
• Players are provided all of the equipment needed to play for the season
Equipment
• MYFA maintains some of the best equipment available and is second to none compared to other youth programs in Iowa and better than most in the nation
• MYFA is the first in the area to offer Guardian Caps like many colleges use at no additional charge
• MYFA has a helmet inventory of over 1200 helmets
• MYFA follows NOCSAE Standards for Helmet Safety
• Helmets are sent to Riddell every 2 years for reconditioning and testing
• Helmets are retired from the inventory between 6 & 8 years, NOCSAE requires retirement before 10 years
• MYFA spends between $75,000 and $110,00 yearly on equipment
• Players are provided a new pair of pants each year for individual use
• Shoulder Pads are sent for reconditioning every 2 to 3 years, this includes O Zoning for sanitation
Fund Raising
• MYFA has calculated the cost per player tackle football is $200+/player per year
• Fund Raising efforts help pay for scholarship players and the reduced registration fees from early bird registration
• MYFA has a waiver program so no kid is turned anyone away for financial hardship reasons
