MYFA Implements a Nationwide Back Ground Check Performed by The National Center for Safety Initiatives For ALL Prospective Flag and Tackle Coaches
This process is funded by MYFA and must be completed by the coaching applicant/volunteer. Upon completion of this process a Green or Red Light will be issued. Green Light applicants will be considered for involvement with MYFA. Red Light applicants will not be considered for coaching/volunteer positions. Red Light notifications are not "reviewable" by the MYFA Executive Board and are final. If you have questions about this process, additional information is available at www.ncsisafe.com.
TACKLE LEAGUE FOOTBALL
How do I let MYFA know I'm interested in coaching spring football?
• Tackle coaches are asked to designate interest in coaching during the standard registration process. The league will contact coaches based on demand.
• A coaches meeting and equipment handout will be set prior to the season.
• A link will be provided to coaches prior to this meeting to begin the background check process.
• Head Coaches and assistant coaches are required to complete and pass the background check (cost for background check covered by MYFA).
• Coaches WILL promote and encourage involvement in MYFA's fund raising activities. Failure to do so may impact future MYFA involvement as a coach.
What is the time commitment? Teams practice for three weeks before the first game.
How long are the games and how many will we play? Each team is scheduled to play six games consisting of four, 10-minute quarters. Games are approximately one hour each.
When will I get the game schedule? Game schedules will be completed, published and e-mailed to coaches by the first practice of the season.
What are my responsibilities at the end of the season? Upon the completion of the season, all coaches are asked to coordinate equipment turn in and pick up individual awards for their team at the MYFA boardroom and equipment building.
